Terminating Chief Tim Jackson Could Save Muldraugh $29,573, Edmonson County Sheriff Confirms

Muldraugh, KY – June 5, 2025

A major revelation has come to light that could instantly relieve the City of Muldraugh of a $29,573 financial burden—if they act decisively.

I spoke directly with Edmonson County Sheriff James Vincent, who confirmed on the record that if the City of Muldraugh terminates Police Chief Tim Jackson, he will not pursue the city for the outstanding $29,573 contract debt linked to Jackson’s undisclosed agreement with the Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office.

“If Jackson is gone,” Sheriff Vincent said, “I won’t pursue the city for payment. The debt follows him.”

This statement comes as a relief to many, following weeks of mounting pressure over the secretive contract signed by Jackson on June 19, 2023, while still employed by Edmonson County—a contract that went undisclosed to Muldraugh officials when Jackson was hired as Chief of Police. Now, as Muldraugh faces possible legal action and budget strain, one decision could clear the debt: fire Jackson.

No Police? No Problem, Says Sheriff Wimpee

A major concern for residents has been what would happen if Muldraugh no longer has an operating police department. I reached out to Meade County Sheriff Phillip Wimpee, who assured me that public safety will not be compromised.

“Our deputies are already responding to calls in Muldraugh,” Wimpee said. “If the city has no law enforcement, we will continue patrolling and answering calls.”

Wimpee emphasized that Meade County stands with Muldraugh, and said the residents don’t need to worry.

“Muldraugh is family. We’ll be there to protect and serve,” he stated confidently.

A Clear Path Forward

With Edmonson County offering a financial reprieve and Meade County pledging full public safety coverage, the City of Muldraugh has a clear choice:

  • Keep Tim Jackson and pay $29,573 for a contract.
  • Terminate Jackson’s employment and walk away from the debt.

For weeks, Muldraugh citizens have questioned the city’s decision-making, transparency, and spending. Now, the answer might be as simple as accountability.

Where Does Mayor Anthony Lee Stand?

So far, Mayor Anthony Lee has not issued a public response regarding this new development. Residents are watching closely to see if the city will act in the public’s best financial and ethical interest.

If the city fails to act now, they risk wasting nearly $30,000 of taxpayer money on a chief whose actions—and omissions—have already caused turmoil.

The choice is now in the city’s hands. And the residents are waiting.
