On Tuesday, first responders were called to the Shawnee Park Boat Ramp about a white sedan that “drove off the boat dock.”
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Emergency authorities responded to Shawnee Park about a water rescue for what is now confirmed to be a stolen car.
On Tuesday around 8:50 p.m., Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) Swim and Dive teams, the Louisville Fire Department (LFD) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to Shawnee Park about a white sedan that “drove off the boat dock” at the Shawnee Park Boat Ramp, LMPD said.
LFD said they were on the scene in four minutes and had people in the water two minutes later.
After crews dived for 15 minutes, they realized there was no one in the submerged vehicle and they do not believe a person was ever in the car during the event, an LFD official told WHAS11.
Police said it appears someone ditched the car in the water and that it was reported stolen.
The car had no license plate, no brake lights and had flat tires, an LFD official said.
