Kentucky weather can be crazy at times, snow today, sunshine tomorrow and rain the next day.
But this wasn’t the case this time, as severe thunderstorm, and tornado and sweeping the area along with flooding the safe house doors remain closed and locked.
The city of Muldraugh did not open up the safe house until what most citizens are saying was too late,
It was down pouring and a tornado was ripping through Brandenburg yet the doors were still locked at the safe house one citizen said,
Another citizen said, I live in a trailer. The winds were 90 miles an hour, and it felt like my trailer was gonna get blown away no siren yet I pulled up to the safe house and the mayor hasn’t opened it up yet,
Unfortunately Muldraugh will not open the safe room unless a warning has been issued. A warning gives your area about a 10-15 minute lead, that is not enough time! With that being said these are two that will be opening ahead of the storm not during a storm like Muldraugh. Everyone be safe, be alert, and be prepared. Muldraugh has a 1.2 MILLION DOLLAR safe room and for what? Said Brittany Hooper on a facebook post.
Yeah I’m not one to hop on a status on any of these little sites, but that absolutely baffles me. Not much of a safe house if you can’t get into it until last min. They’re called “spin-ups” for no reason I reckon. Especially when they have been warning us about the storm for almost a week. But hey , the people that run this town know what’s best obviously says Ashli Samuels on that same post.

Facebook posts have been going around regarding this matter but citizens are being attacked by the mayor‘s wife, the people are uneducated and don’t know what they are talking about because they don’t know the rules of regulations,
After speaking with a member of FEMA it is at the discretion of the mayor, it can be open anytime to be a safe haven for severe weather flooding tornadoes, etc.
With the citizens of Muldraugh one is a place that they can go and be safe with storms instead of the thought of severe injuries from being trapped in the middle of the storm,
At the end of the day, Mayor, Anthony Lee you were voted in by the people, you work for the people, this is the People’s town, that is a people safe house, when storms are coming and they’re severe open the safe house up for the citizens
All the safe houses in the county we’re opening at 7 o’clock but Muldraugh safe house is the only one that didn’t open up until the warning of a tornado existed.
